CHRISTMAS IN JULY IN THE HUNTER VALLEY

In July 2022 we were finally able to take our long awaited, several times postponed due to the COVID19 Lockdowns, tour to the Hunter Valley for “Christmas in July”, organised by Figtree Travel. We travelled by coach from Corrimal to the amazing and beautiful Kirkton Park Resort at Pokolbin our luxury accommodation for 3 nights. Tour included visits to the Hunter Valley Gardens, a tour of Kurri Kurri with a local guide to view the murals in the town, lunch in Morpeth and visit to the Morpeth Museum. We enjoyed a wood-fired pizza and tapas dinner and hot chocolate seated around the fire pit, sumptuous afternoon high tea, pre-dinner wine and cheese tasting and of course, a special “Christmas in July Dinner” all at Kirkton Park. A great time was had by all participants, and it was good to be able to travel again, together, after such a long time.

FIELDS OF GOLD AND COWRA DISCOVERY TOUR

The second tour for 2022 was in October, the “Fields of Gold and Cowra Discovery” Tour organised by Trade Travel. A fantastic time was enjoyed by the seventeen Corrimal Probus Club members who participated. We had an early start from Corrimal aboard our luxury coach heading down the Hume Highway to Cowra Services Club Motel for our four-night stay. The tour included visits to Harden/Murrumburrah to view the life-sized sculpture of “Bill the Bastard”, the Lambing Flat Tribute Gardens, Cowra Japanese Gardens and Cultural Centre, Eugowra, the “Age of Fishes Museum” at Canowindra, Iandra Castle at Greenthorpe, Grenfell and Bathurst with a drive around the famous Mount Panorama racing circuit and a visit to the National Racing Museum. The highlight meals were lunch at “Montrose House” in Canowindra hosted by the very entertaining Tommy Jeffs where great food and a lot of laughs were enjoyed and our farewell dinner and wine tasting at the Quarry Restaurant and Cellar Door, the only fine dining restaurant in Cowra. Good weather and the stunning “Fields of Golden Canola” were amazing!

LAKE JINDABYNE – THE LIFE OF RILEY TOUR

Our first trip for 2023 was in May to Jindabyne for the “Life of Riley Tour” run by the Lake Jindabyne Hotel. We travelled by coach from Corrimal to Jindabyne where we spent 5 nights at the Lake Jindabyne Hotel with amazing views of beautiful Lake Jindabyne from every room.  On day one we awoke to a cool, crisp morning and snow was falling on the mountains which made for some breathtaking scenery.  A real bonus!  The tour included visits to the Snowy Region Visitors Centre in Jindabyne, the Wild Brumby Distillery and Sculpture Garden, Dead Horse Gap, lunch in Thredbo and a scenic gondola ride to the base of the Cruiser Area where we spent time enjoying the snow and stunning Alpine scenery, Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes and Charlotte Pass, Cooma, the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre, a drive to Old Adaminaby to view Lake Eucumbene Dam, Berridale and Dalgety. The tour was very popular, with 33 club members participating. A great time was enjoyed by all!
